Republican or Democrat, doesn’t matter. Power motivates both to do these things.
Truly “free” will is making a decision between two nondescript, unknown objects while blindfolded. If you can see the choices and know anything about them, your past experiences that you’ve associated to each object make the choice for you by telling you which is most logical. Even seeing the colors, form, values etc will affect your choice. In this sense I am glad to be biased by my past experiences.
