The only thing that has ever stopped me from accomplishing the things I didn’t accomplish is procrastination. My life would be the shit right now without it. But that’s what it’s all about. Living in the moment, blocking out thoughts of the future for some compulsive rush of fun over and over again. I have all these ideas that I think would be great if implemented and if I just had the motivation to execute all of them I’d be one of those productive people that seem alien to me in how they can work so hard without having as much fun.
Haven’t secured a place to live yet… crazies are messaging me… procrastination is unavoidable… stressful friends… this summer has been way more sober than initially planned.
I’m sorry but as a non-Christian I agree with the Christians in that the UC is not a Christian organization. Christianity believes Jesus was supposed to be crucified. The UC does not.
If you think HWDYKYM is a hate site then what do you think of blogs who criticize politicians? Free speech, go suck its cock and quit whining. A little blog is not interfering in the rights of the UC to worship the way they want to. “The way they see fit” does not include covering up third party resources when info they do not like is made public. I do have the right to insult and criticize the UC as does every person about every sovereign entity ever. When I do this, I am expressing my opinion and my opinion does not infringe on the rights of the church. Yeah I am looking at the insults I fling. Have you seen the one with In Jin spewing shit? :) Unless I force you to read my blog, whatever I put on here does harm to nobody. Since I don’t force you, if you don’t like it please leave.
As I have proven in the previous post, atheism is not a religion. No you can’t prove that there is no God, and most atheists don’t try to. You are ignorant of the fact that most atheists simply don’t believe in one, instead of outright stating that there is none. You seem to love talking about things you have no business in.
Oh do you own a cable channel? Or do you only have enough money for one? That atheists have a channel to themselves is not evidence that we want to convert you. Don’t like it? There are numerous other channels biased more towards your tastes. What I meant with the pamphlets is that conversion is generally not our main goal. Right now it is making the ideology more well known and publicly tolerated, and that was what the pamphlets were for. The video? I suspect you just searched “atheism moonie” on youtube and didn’t even watch it. This is one video in a series by atheists who host a talk show on a number of subjects, and this one includes the subject of moonies because an ex-moonie atheist like myself chose to speak freely and call them to talk about his experiences in the church. Hardly trying to tear the church down. I’m guessing you’re extra sensitive if you’re threatened by that.
Atheism is a belief system. A religion is a belief system in which several people share nearly identical beliefs and participate in rituals, observances, and usually abstinence of some kind that those of other religions or the non-religious wouldn’t abstain from in the same way. There’s also a strict moral code of some kind that all religions have. Atheists have none of the above. We have our individual moral codes, ie we all believe murder is wrong but some of us might think victimless “crimes” such as responsible drug use and prostitution aren’t. Oh and then there’s the whole God thing. The first part of your definition of religion describes the worship of Gods, which atheism lacks. And there is nothing else we worship.
You cannot comprehend a worldview without a God so you have to try to redefine this worldview to be more like yours. You may even fear the different approach of this worldview as if it invalidates your own. So you have to project false characteristics onto us so that your pre-existing beliefs make sense.
The thing is by equating atheism with your own religion, you decrease the value of religion. By your logic any belief system from capitalism to causality is a religion and anyone can start their own religion. Anyone can worship anything and call it God, and that would be of equal value to the Gods of other religions.
And yes I use language. Shitheads do need to be called out after all. I’m not forcing you to read this so it’s up to you to stop reading if you don’t like it.

First of all, who’s really the “pretentious one” here? I haven’t heard you or any one of the writers here reflect at all about their own short-comings or that they might not be 100% correct in their negative opinions about the UC. Also, I Haven’t heard anyone from the UC claim that “the church is untainted.” Now you guys are just making things up. On top of that these articles go back decades to pull up any dirty little facts (“Black HJN”) that you can find to make the UC look as bad as possible with little attempt at a balanced approach. It’s ironic because most of the people I know in the UC are actually trying their best to be as good as possible (which is not the same as “untainted”) — which is more than I can say for these dirty little slanted and inaccurate “exposes.” From what I’ve seen, the UC is painfully aware of its own shortcomings and is trying to correct them. But, anyway I think the real motivation for this site has finally emerged Mr “we-are-alone.” It is fortunate for you “atheists” the US Constitution also protects your little (irrational) religion too (just 20% at last count I think). And yes it is a religion. You actually have to “believe” there is no God — which I find quite a stretch given even the sheer beauty of the agile minds of the writers of these pages. I think you guys are just picking on the UC because you know it’s an already small and unpopular religion and it’s easy. Hey I know, why don’t you try exposing some atheist institutions (who claim themselves to be virtuous) for a change? How about the communist party? What too scary for you?
— respectfully, religiousfreedomforall
Let’s start with the irony in your name and compare it to you falsely calling atheism a religion and then attacking it. If you believe in religious freedom for all, by attacking atheism you are proving that you yourself don’t think it really is a religion. Derp.
As I said in my last submission to HWDYKYM, the original founder of that blog is a faithful Christian ex-moonie. And I take no part in running that blog. I endured a lot of suffering because of the church and I would like to help make sure that others don’t have to. That’s the only thing anyone who supports the blog have in common. I think you’re trying to argue about things you don’t understand at all and you’re caught with your pants down. Atheists are attacking small religions by posing as angry ex-members? Jesus Christ all we want are the separation of church and state. We don’t go on converting missions. I will retract this statement if you can name me a single time an atheist knocked on your door with pamphlets. Derp.
I have no problem with atheist institutions, at least the ones that only support atheism or secularism. If you have problems with places such as the FFRF you can go ahead and start your own blog, see how you do. Communism is not atheism, but communists in the past have been atheists. You seem to not know shit about atheism except what the church tells you because I know it constantly equates communism to atheism.
Our own shortcomings? If you’ve read more than a few posts of HWDYKYM you would know that they admit when they can’t definitively prove it or when they can’t reveal their sources for privacy reasons. This time you’re the one missing the point. Not one of us is claiming to know the absolute truth or be perfect, we are calling out those who do claim to be perfect. If Obama told us he was a perfect man and would make the country perfect before his presidency how fucking infuriated would you be at him right now?
And yes the church does claim to be perfect. Maybe not the the organization itself, actually the organization and the members are usually the most blamed for all the problems in the church but I mean Moon and his family. If you disagree I’m sorry but we must live in two different worlds. Moon claims to be the only perfected human. He once said that God looks up to him. Hyo Jin Moon is glorified and deified despite his well known drug and wife abuse. Moonie apoligists claim “perfect” just means spiritually perfect in a vain attempt to absolve Moon of any worldly mistakes. This is contrary to everything I was told about Moon as a child however, such as plants following him as he walks, fish jumping into boats for him, etc.
I’m sure the church is aware of most of its problems, it just doesn’t do anything about enough of them. If they cared, they would publicly announce and apologize for all wrongdoings. Why wouldn’t they want the members to know everything going on? I’m talking about what comes out of the head organization here, not your local minister trying to make sense out of it.
“respectfully—” Don’t give me that bullshit ya wanker, you just called atheism an irrational little religion and accused me of conspiracy.
Godbless ;)
we are alone
This was a question sent to HWDYKYM and I want to add to their rebuttal. I don’t think that the blog’s answer is incomplete but I’ve met several moonies who think this way and I want to get my personal answer in writing. I submitted it to the blog but whether or not he publishes it, I want it on here too.

It may help you have a larger perspective.
So are you proposing we do away with all religions that have made mistakes? Where shall we start?
As an atheist? Yes, I do think all religions that make huge mistakes are wrong and that these wrongdoings should be in the public knowledge. Leading to atheism. But besides that obvious answer, oh pretentious moonie, you’re missing the point. It’s for very reasons like the above about Catholics and Puritans why Moon claims they are wrong. The church criticizes other religions because of such well-known faults. The church also claims to be “untainted” and that it can do no wrong, that all actions are God-inspired. It has only been recently that some of Moon’s kids started their apologism tours trying to explain how the church can make mistakes and still be right. Anyway when blogs like HWDYKYM come along and show that the church is just like any other religion that makes mistakes, the church loses credibility as the “chosen” religion and becomes just another hypocritical one.

The Perry Bible Fellowship is a favorite of mine, they don’t update anymore but the old ones are still online to be enjoyed.
The name “ecstasy” was given to the substance MDMA by a Catholic priest named Michael Clegg, who used the substance to “understand the thoughts of God”. He went on to mass distribute hundreds of thousands of pills a month, quickly making him rich.
Damn if only he reached out to the TV evangelists with this while it was still legal. Grandma wouldn’t be able to buy “God’s thoughts” fast enough.
Yeah I just kinda stopped with that didn’t I? Sorry about that, guess I’m too lazy to commit to anything these days. So I’ll just do whatever I feel like when I can. Sounds fair. In lieu of explosm.net I feel like a depressing comic week, except it will be more like a period of time with my schedule… and it might not even be continued again…

…or offensive, but sorry, I can’t help but believe the majority of the population are truly, happily ignorant. With that said I’ve felt this way while thinking about and discussing several subjects and in the cases of discussion it’s usually mutually implied that such people have it better and are to be envied. The subjects that have got me thinking most about this are the drug war and the rise of consumerism (of course my nihilism towards religion counts as well, but there’s no rush to convert people with that). And now I think maybe being content and ignorant is the problem. However, while the more radical-minded would easily agree that blissful ignorance is the problem, the thing is the majority of the blissful ignorant also agree, they just tend to believe they’re the ones in the minority and the others, which would include me, are ignorant of other issues that said “minority” see as their big priorities in life. So everybody’s goal is to get everybody else out of the perceived “happy bubble” to get their ideas out there. Either that, meaning everybody’s unhappy about too widely varying things to make a difference, or the bubble of bliss really is out there. Well now to be consistent with myself I would have to believe that my ideas are more important than others, or at least are important enough to listen to. Well I think they are. If the drug war is just an elaborate joke to spend as much of our money as possible to restrict our own freedom, while simultaneously brainwashing us to think that freedom is dangerous, then people should know and be unhappy about it. If ad agencies and big business really do see us as sheep unable to make our own choices, and regularly herd us with fear, then we should be aware of this. That’s how you change the world I guess.
By now, you probably think your opinion of Goldman Sachs and its swarm of Wall Street allies has rock-bottomed at raw loathing. You’re wrong. There’s more. It turns out the most destructive of all their recent acts has barely been discussed at all. Here’s the rest. This is the story of how some of the richest people in the world - Goldman, Deutsche Bank, the traders at Merrill Lynch, and more - have caused the starvation of some of the poorest people in the world, just so they could make a fatter profit.
Natural gas—the kind that heats ovens and boils water—specifically methane, is the culprit behind the mysterious disappearances and loss of water and air craft. The evidence for this astounding new insight into a mystery that’s bedeviled the world is laid out in a research paper published in the American Journal of Physics.
